We’re proud to officially welcome Adin Masencamp to the Sharkbanz team as our latest brand ambassador —and our very first from South Africa. Hailing from Cape Town, Adin is one of South Africa’s top talents, a leader on the WSL Challenger Series, and an inspiring force in the global free surf community.

Adin’s passion for surf is matched by his respect for the ocean and South Africa’s coastal ecosystem. He represents the essence of what Sharkbanz is all about: chasing what you love, smartly assessing risk, and treating nature with respect. Whether he’s charging at home or journeying abroad, Adin brings grit and a humble attitude.

Riding with Confidence: Adin + the FCS x Sharkbanz POD

Our partnership with Adin launches alongside a mini short film, shot along South Africa’s rugged and sharky coastline by the talented team at Mero Films, with Ian Thurtell providing water angles. The edit highlights Adin’s natural connection to the ocean, his electric surfing, and his use of the FCS x Sharkbanz POD—a science-backed shark deterrent made for surfers, by surfers.

“I’ve been using the FCS x Sharkbanz POD for a full year now and it’s changed the way I surf at some of South Africa’s sharkiest spots — including my local, Caves, Kogel Bay,” says Adin.

Designed to seamlessly integrate with your surf setup, the POD attaches directly to your surf leash and uses Sharkbanz’s patented magnetic technology to deter curious sharks by disrupting their electroreception. It’s lightweight, low-drag, and doesn’t interfere with performance—offering a major peace-of-mind upgrade with no downside.

“We’ve been relying on luck our whole lives, but now that there’s an option to reduce the risk, why wouldn’t we?” says Adin in the film.

“There’s no impact to performance, but the improvement in peace of mind is massive—and that’s a huge bonus for any surfer.”

A Life Shaped by Wild Waters

Cape Town is one of the most naturally stunning places on the planet—and one of the most shark-active. It’s a place where towering mountains meet deep ocean trenches, and where every paddle-out includes a quiet acknowledgment of what swims below.

“In Cape Town, the wild doesn’t stop where the shoreline begins,” Adin says.

“You paddle out with mountain peaks behind you and the deep blue in front, knowing the stretch of water is home to some of the ocean’s most dangerous predators.”

This reality doesn’t stop surfers like Adin—it motivates them. It fuels a deeper respect for the power of nature and a desire to surf smarter. With tools like Sharkbanz, that respect and risk-awareness can exist alongside confidence and freedom.

“It’s like a helmet or seatbelt. You hope you never need it, but it’s a no-brainer when it comes to reducing risk and keeping your focus on what matters: surfing my best.”

Why We’re Stoked

Partnering with Adin is more than just aligning with a top-tier surfer—it’s about supporting a person who embodies important topics we believe in. From his performance in Now Now Media’s “Chasing the Sardine Run”, to his competitive hustle on the WSL Challenger Series, Adin brings humility and heart to what he does.

“I look forward to surfing with even more comfortability and peace of mind, which in turn will improve my surfing and experience while chasing the best waves around the world,” says Adin.

“Stoked to be part of the team and have their support as I travel the globe competing and adventuring off the beaten track, in search of perfect waves and good times.”

We’re honored to support Adin as he represents South Africa on the world stage—and we’re excited to continue working with athletes, explorers, and everyday ocean-goers around the world who are choosing to coexist with confidence.
