Sharkbanz Releases Cutting-Edge Science Video with Forrest Galante

At Sharkbanz, understanding sharks and utilizing science to our collective advantage is at the core of everything we do. Our latest science video is a proud step forward in that mission—offering the most detailed, realistic look yet at how our patented magnetic technology interacts with a shark’s powerful electroreception to deter them.

It’s an exciting moment for shark science, ocean safety and one that helps explain why Sharkbanz is an effective deterrent measure and relatable safety tool, like seat belts or helmets.

The Shark’s Sixth Sense, Visualized Like Never Before

Sharks are ancient, intelligent creatures equipped through millions of years of evolution with one of the most powerful sensory systems in the animal kingdom: electroreception. This capability is made possible by the ampullae of Lorenzini—a network of sensory pores that detect minute electric fields in the water. These fields, generated by the muscular contractions of fish and other organisms, help sharks locate prey even when it’s hidden from sight.

Our new science video brings this complex system to life with realistic animation and scientific accuracy. For the first time ever, viewers can see how a shark interacts with Earth’s geomagnetic field lines, learn more about electromagnetic induction, and understand the harmless but powerful magnetic field generated by Sharkbanz.
From anatomical precision to the physics of magnetism and motion, every frame was crafted to not only educate but inspire awe for sharks and our planet and the science that can help us better coexist and appreciate our shared world.

Featuring Forrest Galante: Adventurer, Scientist, Storyteller
We’re honored to have Forrest Galante - wildlife biologist, world record-holding spearfisherman, and host of Extinct or Alive - narrating and guiding the film’s exploration. Forrest’s unique experience both studying sharks and encountering them in the wild gives him an unmatched perspective on what it means to live with these apex predators rather than against them.

As Forrest puts it, “What if we could harness one of a shark’s greatest strengths—the ability to detect electric fields—into a tool for our own defense?”

That’s exactly what Sharkbanz does.

Forrest’s involvement amplifies our mission and brings both credibility and passion to this piece. His commitment to ocean conservation and science-based solutions reflects everything Sharkbanz stands for.

A Celebration of Science and Creative Collaboration
Since our early days, we’ve worked closely with leading scientists like Dr. Eric Stroud, a chemist and innovator in shark deterrent technology, and Dr. Patrick Rice, Chief Science & Research Officer and Principal Investigator for Marine Research at Florida Keys Community College. Their insights helped shape the patented magnetic technology at the core of Sharkbanz—and now, with this video, we can finally show that science to the world.

This project was also brought to life by an incredible creative team:

• Director Aaron Lieber, acclaimed for his work on Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable, who brought cinematic vision and storytelling depth.
• Animator Casey McPerry, known for his dynamic, emotionally engaging animation.
• Animator Victor Abramovskiy, who contributed stunning realism and artistic precision.

Together, with our in-house Sharkbanz team, they’ve created a film that stands as a milestone—not just for our brand, but for public shark education and ocean safety.

Why It Matters
This science explainer isn’t simply a product demo. It’s a new way of highlighting how sharks perceive the world, technology, and how we can protect ourselves without harming them. By helping people understand how Sharkbanz leverages the natural laws of marine biology and physics, we hope to spark curiosity, encourage ocean exploration, and support coexistence between humans and sharks.

At the heart of Sharkbanz is shark science, earth science, and marine science—and this video is a celebration of all three.

We invite you to watch, share, and dive deeper into how innovation and understanding can reduce risk and strengthen our relationship with the wild. The ocean belongs to all of us, and with science on our side, we can protect what we love—and each other.
